Warriewood Square - Sydney, Australia

Warriewood Square is a popular shopping center that has been operating in Northern Sydney Australia for over 40 years. Vicinity Centres worked with Built, a ( add something about them) in 2015 to help protect the square from seasonal flooding as part of a redevelopment project that sought to significantly expand the mall in size.

The project involved 8 different flood gate installations in high foot traffic areas throughout the shopping mall and at vehicle entryways.

Varying in height and length, all 8 flood barriers are passive automatic, meaning they deploy without human intervention or power, as do all FloodBreak projects

Having several flood gates located in a shopping center created a unique challenges. In order to provide flood protection measures without disturbing the architectural aesthetic of the mall, our flood gates were covered with granite to make the barriers virtually invisible.  Wiper walls were also integrated architecturally, including using glass at storefront so as not to block the view.
