Located on the coast in Australia, near the South Pacific Ocean, Warriewood Square is a large mall including retail shops, restaurants, services, entertainment for the local & tourist communities.
As the planning of the complex expansion began, there was a requirement for automatic flood control. As Vicinity Centres researched their automatic options, not only local to their continent, but globally.
With this location, their vulnerable paths provided specific needs.
Our engineer design team designed 8 passive automatic floodgates custom to this location’s needs. The versatility of our design allows for multiple uses at one location, of all sizes and needs, providing complete and comprehensive flood control for customer locations. The largest gate in this project is approximately 24’x3′, with others ranging from 12’x2′ to the smallest gate in this project at approximately 6.5’x 2′. Regardless of the size or location of the application, our floodgates are made with durable materials to withstand heavy loads and traffic with no interruption to daily operations.
In this project, a custom architectural finish was applied to the floodgate within the shopping center, blending in seamlessly with the existing architecture. There is no compromise in performance with custom sizing or adding additional features and customizations.
The Warriewood Square loading docks, shopping center, and parking garage are passively protected by our automatic floodgates 24/7.
With no need to staff for operation during a flood event, this saves our customer money in potential flood damages and operation costs, every event.
Over 8 years of being installed, our floodgates are still providing fully passive and automatic flood protection.
