On Monday, February 24th, New York City took a groundbreaking step in flood protection and coastal resiliency as FloodBreak’s innovative floodgates made their debut in Lower Manhattan!

NYC Commissioner Foley joined Deputy Mayor Joshi, city agency partners, and the community to showcase the newly installed floodgates—a key milestone in the Brooklyn Bridge-Montgomery Coastal Resilience project, part of the broader Lower Manhattan Coastal Resilience (LMCR) initiative.

Approximately 30 FloodBreak floodgates have been installed, equipped with our hydraulic lift system that allows them to be activated with the push of a button. This game-changing technology ensures rapid, reliable flood protection for one of the world’s most dynamic urban environments.

This achievement was made possible through collaboration and teamwork with the NYC Department of Design and Construction (DDC) and Picone, who is handling the installation of our floodgates for this project. Together, we’re setting a new standard for coastal resilience and flood protection.

But we’re just getting started! FloodBreak’s floodgates will be included in other projects associated with LMCR, so stay tuned for continued updates as we expand our efforts to protect New York City’s coastline and communities.
