In 2017, Hurricane Harvey flooded Sugar Creek on the Lake, causing costly damage and business disruption. Floodwater filled the lower level of the garage where critical equipment was housed and tenants parked. The office building needed a reliable flood protection system that would prevent future flood inundation. Walter P. Moore, a leading engineering firm, conducted the site assessment to define the flood risk and design the flood protection system.
FloodBreak collaborated with the project team to design and deliver passive flood barrier systems that safeguard critical building openings from water intrusion. A key project requirement was to provide automatic flood protection—barriers that remain open under normal conditions, activate solely by rising floodwater, and automatically reopen once water recedes.
