Permanent Flood Protection, 24/7
FloodBreak passive automatic flood barrier systems are designed to provide permanent flood protection without human intervention or power. In the event of a flash flood or other unforeseen flood emergencies, FloodBreak automatic flood gates self-activate to deploy and protect your valuable assets. The weight of the incoming flood water will cause our barriers to flip up until it reaches its full upright position. When the water recedes, the barrier will fall back underground and remain there until the next flood event.
This system provides 24/7 flood protection to all vulnerable properties & openings.

Rated for HS-25 loading, the barriers are covered with durable material to withstand the demands of high-speed highway traffic.
Maintenance is minimal but FloodBreak offers a Flood Ready Certification program for customers who do not have the resources to perform the recommended annual inspection. With this program, FloodBreak takes responsibility for your installed flood gates and inspects them for you to give you peace of mind that they will deploy and protect as designed.
Passive Floodwalls
Often a typical flood mitigation plan includes a perimeter floodwall or berm around a facility that requires floodproofing.
Our automatic flood barriers are the perfect solution to protect the openings in the floodwall necessary to facilitate pedestrian and vehicular access. The flood barriers lie hidden in front of those openings during dry times and automatically deploy when flooding threatens. The buoyant flood barrier panel is lifted by the rising floodwater and the self-activating gaskets will seal against the walls to prevent flood inundation.
Many critical infrastructure buildings are designed with perimeter floodwalls, and FloodBreak’s automatic floodgates are the perfect low-disruptive solution to protect the openings.
By laying underground until activated, critical openings can remain accessible as long as possible up until the very start of a flood event.
Passive Flood Gates To Protect Ramps & Stairwells
FloodBreak’s passive automatic flood barriers can be installed to protect ramps, stairwells, and other pedestrian entryways that are susceptible to flood damage.
Our gates’ innovative design allows it to be installed on a slope, whether that be for vehicular entrance into garages or pedestrian pathways into buildings. In addition, the floodgate can also be installed at the top of stairways or escalators to prevent water from flowing to lower levels.
These passive automatic flood barriers provide permanent, 24/7 flood protection without the need for human intervention or power. This means areas behind the flood gates will remain safe without the need for onsite personnel to deploy the barriers, something especially important in the event of unforeseen natural disasters such as flash floods.

Why Passive Over Active?
Traditional flood protection measures for pedestrian entryways include inflatable water bags, sand bags, lids, and manually activated flexible gates. While these may seem like cost-effective alternatives, they require human intervention and the inherent risk that personnel cannot deploy them in time.
FEMA recommends passive flood protection whenever possible because it eliminates human intervention. There are simply too many ways active measures can fail due to human intervention.
