FloodBreak’s Contribution

The Rawhide Wash Flood Mitigation Project is designed to provide long-term flood protection by channelizing stormwater within the Rawhide Wash, reducing flood risk, and strengthening resiliency. FloodBreak’s innovative passive automatic floodgate system provides enhanced flood protection, helping manage stormwater and protect against rising floodwaters.

As part of the project, FloodBreak supplied and installed two custom passive automatic roadway floodgates at the roadway crossing points for Los Portones Drive. The gates are integrated with the flood wall and levee system, allowing vehicle access during normal days while automatically closing those openings during flood events to contain flows within the Rawhide Wash— a solution that provides 24/7 protection without the use of people or power.

The Rawhide Wash project demonstrates how proactive flood mitigation and innovative infrastructure can work together to reduce flood risk and strengthen community resilience. By combining our advanced flood protection technology with strategic floodway improvements, the project provides greater protection for Scottsdale residents and the surrounding community.

Congratulations to Maricopa County Flood Control District, Rummel Construction, and JE Fuller for this national recognition.
